The Programme

Easy – Lowland walking, flat or with gentle hills. Ideal for those with little or no experience of walking or cycling.

Moderate – Hills and dales, generally below 1,500 feet.

Strenuous – High level mountain and moorland over 1,500 feet. May involve steep ascents/descents or scrambling.

The onus is on individuals to arrange their own transport to and from hostel weekends. It is not the responsibility of the booking officer or any other member of the committee to arrange transport.

6th Oct Sat 9.30 Caldicot Castle visit and walk Desiree is our guide as we tour the castle and surrounding area. EASY
13th Oct Sat 10.30 Steel Horse Cycle Ride Dave F takes us through the Usk Valley to the Steel Horse bikers café and back via the canal. Meeting Point Pontypool Active Living Centre MODERATE
19th – 21st Oct Bewdley Hostel Enjoy a weekend on the Worcs/salop border. I’m sure we can string a walk in the Wyre Forest.
27th Oct 9.30 Fothergill Trail with Nigel Who was Fothergill you ask. Well come along and find out and follow in the footsteps of Weatherman Walking. MODERATE
1st – 4th Nov York Hostel Weekend The County that won more gold medals than Australia at the Olympics is certainly a medal winning choice for a visit.
11th Nov 9.30 Armitice Walk with Ian On the centerary of the end of hostilities we visit Kilgwrrwg. HARD
17th Nov Sat 9.30 Blorenge Walk with Jan It usually snows on the Blorenge and that’s in July! I’m sure the weather will be as lovely as the walk. MODERATE
2nd Dec Sun 9.00 Abertillery Walk Continuing the Gwent Valleys theme Dave F takes us on 10 mile yomp. Believe me they are as beautiful as before the Rape of the Fair Country.  HARD
